Yeah. I have also experienced the same Lesley. Some day it works some doesn't..
Ever since these went to offering a 2x coin amount I have struggled with it working. Now I find that if I wait a couple of minutes after pressing the 2x box it finally works! Frustrating though to have to wait for it to work

Have you tried "tricking" it I found that if I click on the feed or play or something or If I lock my phone it will give me the reward for the 2x without having to wait for it to load
