I think what makes Spanish hard is that, although many of the words and their meanings are close or exact to English, when we hear it spoken, it sounds totally different. Also, many of us can pick ip spanish if its written (which, for the most part I can) but what gets us is the 'natural' speed one talks in Spanish (barely considered a beginner myself and can sometimes get the overall meaning of what's being said bit in no way hold a reasonable conversation) has most of us scratching our heads. I'm not trying to knock anyone who speaks spanish but sometimes, it's like - are you planning on coming up for air? Breathe.
