I only had one really bad experience with a used car. Got a car not even 2 weeks, on the way to a job interview, on the highway the engine seized! Took them 3 weeks to replace the engine but took out the radio. That was another 3 weeks. Still didn't run right. Told bank come get it.

I've had both new and used, and the new ones were definitely worth it.

The used ones, some were really good, and others were okay, but I had pretty good luck there too.
