I clean my brush every time I use it probably because I use the unbrush so it's easier to just clean it more often

I didn't know we were supposed to clean it weekly, no.  I did know what's left in the brush is everything you mentioned.  I automatically clean my brush weekly just because it looks gross if I don't!
