Today is national Navajo code talkers and Creamsicle day. During WWII the code talkers were instrumental in using coded messages. The program remained classified until 1968 when the US presented the original 29 Navajo Code Talkers with Congressional Gold Medals. In 1982 President Ronald Reagan proclaimed National Navajo Code Talkers day to recognize all the tribes for their contributions to wars. He also recognized the Choctaw, Chippewa, Creek and Sioux by name.
18.45 - How very cool! Wasn't there a Nicholas Cage movie (I think it was him) about the code talkers? Ummm, I think it was in VHS days because I remember picking it up and considering renting it at the local movie rental place. I have not seen the movie, if one exists...
