Maple syrup tasting

The Maple Leaf Place plaza, along the Niagara River Parkway, has a new shop which still maple syrup and other goodies.

They offer maple syrup tasting which is a nice touch. They give you a "flight" of shot glasses with golden, amber and dark syrups. It's cool to taste these side-by-side and really appreciate the differences.

First time I tasted really maple syrup was when I was doing a notarization (I'm a notary) for a family, and as an appreciative gift, he gave me 2 bottle from that year's first run plus honey from his hives. Absolutely the best!

Oh wow! That's a nice gift. If it was from their first run of the season, in guessing that it was a fairly light syrup.

May I ask where you grew up, and had not ever had maple syrup?

I'm in Massachusetts and after all New England, its one of the things the area is kniwn for. This was the first time I had gotten it directly from someone's farm.

The space where this store is located used to have a glass shop, where you could watch live glass blowing.

It's unfortunate that the glass shop is gone. I really liked going in there.

They also sell infused syrups (like smokey spiced maple syrup) but don't offer tasting of those.
