Everybody keeps talking about how it's 50000 for £5, but I'm in the US and it's 3000 for $5

Is this just a regional thing?

    It says that I can only get 100, or until 10k steps but for some reason when I'm over 10k I get coins but it's less frequent, like 1 coin for each 200 steps instead of 100
