"Ambush bug" living in my thistle

Been seeing these little guys hanging out on my thistle's flowers. Thought they looked like a cross between a cicada and a mantis. iNaturalist says its some species of "ambush bug". Sure enough, I finally saw it eating a bee!

28- is it harmful to the plant?

Not really. They eat other bugs. So it doesn't harm the plant directly, but it could impede pollination by eating the pollinators. Not really a problem with this plant because I'm not letting it go to seed anyway.

I hadn't either! I just started noticing them on my thistle like a week ago.

You've got ambush bugs visiting your thistle flowers!😄 They're sneaky predators that catch and eat unsuspecting insects like bees.🐝👀
