Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for October 2026?

Key Points:

• Opinions on the latest PS+ Essentials lineup are mixed, with some users appreciating the inclusion of niche and obscure indie games they wouldn't normally try, such as Earth Defense Force 2 and Hunt: Showdown.
• Several users express disappointment with the selection, describing it as out of touch and lacking appeal for casual gamers, noting that games like F1 and Hunt: Showdown have niche audiences or are past their prime.
• Hunt: Showdown receives particular criticism for being an unforgiving and unwelcoming online shooter, with some regretting their purchase and questioning Sony's choice to include it over their own struggling extraction shooter, Marathon.
• Some players value the variety and universal playability of the lineup compared to previous months, which were seen as poor, though others find the current selection uninspiring and not aligned with seasonal expectations like Halloween-themed games.
• Overall, the sentiment reflects frustration with Sony's recent PS+ offerings, with hopes for better curated and themed content in the future, especially during key seasons like Halloween.
