Key Points:
- San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey left the Week 7 game with a thigh injury but returned to play in the second half after receiving treatment.
- McCaffrey's injury adds to the Niners' ongoing injury challenges, as the team was already missing key players including Mike Evans.
- Backup running back Kaelon Black stepped up during McCaffrey's absence, scoring a 30-yard rushing touchdown, while Jordan James is next on the depth chart.
- The 49ers have been managing McCaffrey’s workload throughout the 2026 season, giving Black more opportunities, though Black’s recent carries have decreased.
- With a Week 8 bye approaching, the team is likely to be cautious in handling McCaffrey’s recovery to ensure his availability for the rest of the season.
