College Football Power Ratings: Florida still among top 12, Alabama leaps Georgia
CBS Sports • • sports
Key Points:
- The Florida Gators started the season strong at 4-0, including wins over Auburn and Ole Miss, leading to high playoff expectations.
- However, their 45-17 loss to Missouri exposed offensive weaknesses, particularly their inability to adjust when the run game was shut down.
- Despite the loss, Florida's defense remains a concern but was not heavily downgraded in power ratings, while Missouri's defense earned more credit for their strong performance.
- Missouri's win was an outlier result but reflected genuine defensive strength, placing them just outside the top 12 in power rankings.
- Penn State, previously ranked No. 12, has underperformed significantly, marking a major misjudgment in earlier ratings.
