Eagles sign QB Joe Milton
PhillyVoice • • sports
Key Points:
- The Philadelphia Eagles signed quarterback Joe Milton from the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad to their 53-man roster following Jalen Hurts' indefinite absence due to a blood clot.
- Milton, a 2024 sixth-round pick by the New England Patriots, has shown impressive physical traits with a strong arm but lacks refined skills and consistency, having limited NFL game experience.
- Despite his raw talent, Milton's development has been slow, and he is considered a project player, contrasting with the more experienced but less physically capable Andy Dalton, whom the Eagles did not re-sign.
- The Eagles appear to be preparing for a longer-term rebuilding phase, as their current backup plans include unproven players like rookie Cole Payton behind starter Tanner McKee.
- A secondary benefit of signing Milton may be gaining insights into the Cowboys ahead of their Week 7 matchup, as Milton was recently with Dallas.
