MLB Trade Rumors • • general
Key Points:
- MLBTR released rankings and contract predictions for the Top 50 MLB free agents, also listing 24 honorable mentions expected to secure major league contracts with potential eight-figure guarantees.
- The honorable mentions are loosely ranked, with players ranked around #40 to #60 anticipated to sign one- or two-year deals at mid-level salaries.
- Jack Flaherty, ranked 51st, missed much of the season due to injuries but showed promising strikeout rates and could command a one-year contract worth $10-12 million.
- Gleyber Torres, ranked 52nd, was the highest-ranked position player to miss the Top 50, posting solid on-base numbers and entering his age-30 season after a decent offensive year.
- Some players on the honorable mentions list may move into the Top 50 if teams pick up contract options or agree to extensions before free agency begins.
