Giardi: Mike's Musings on Maye making the offense go in win over Jets; plus, the kids are alright
Boston Sports Journal • • sports
Key Points:
- Drake Maye showed some inconsistency in accuracy and ball placement, with a few missed “easy” throws, but overall demonstrated patience, pocket presence, and poise, often making plays with his arm rather than relying on running.
- A.J. Brown had a rough game with four drops, a fumble, and an onside kick mishandled, yet he consistently got open and none of the throws to him seemed forced; his performance will be crucial for upcoming games.
- Will Campbell appeared fully recovered from a recent knee injury, effectively contributing with pass pressures, strong blocking in short yardage, and a notable run block in the red zone.
- Caleb Lomu replaced an injured and struggling Morgan Moses, showing some weaknesses in pass protection, particularly with surrendering short corners that allowed defenders to get close to Maye quickly.
