God Of War Laufey Collector's Edition Doesn't Include The Game, This Time On Purpose

Key Points:

• The God of War Laufey Collector Box, priced around $130 in the UK, has been revealed to include a light-up statue, a 51-card deck, and a mini art book, but notably does not include a copy of the game itself, which must be purchased separately.
• This practice of selling collector editions without the game has drawn criticism for being exploitative, especially given the relatively low production cost of the included items compared to the high price.
• The lack of a game copy in the collector's edition is particularly puzzling for God of War Laufey, a PS5 exclusive, where cost-saving measures related to multi-platform versions do not apply.
• This situation echoes a similar issue with the previous God of War Ragnarok special editions, which initially failed to include the promised download codes, though that was later corrected by Sony.
• The trend reflects an industry pattern of testing consumer tolerance for premium-priced merchandise without the core game, raising concerns among fans and collectors about value and fairness.
