MAGA-Curious CBS Boss’ Bust-Up With ‘60 Minutes’ Legend Leaks

Key Points:

• CBS boss Bari Weiss reportedly clashed with 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl over a contentious report on Israeli settler violence, leading to heated editorial disputes and private talks of Stahl quitting.
• Weiss, a vocal supporter of Israel, became heavily involved in the editorial process, pushing broad and unspecified notes and even suggesting delaying the piece, which Stahl resisted to ensure it aired as scheduled.
• The conflict delayed the public listing of the episode and echoed previous controversies involving Weiss, including accusations of political partisanship and the departure of CBS correspondent Sharon Alfonsi.
• CBS defended the editorial process as rigorous and denied that the report faced unusual interference, emphasizing that the piece received fewer edits than typical segments.
• Additional tensions arose around coverage of the war in Gaza, with CBS foreign correspondent Holly Williams facing pushback over including Gaza war death tolls, contributing to staff dissatisfaction and potential departures.
