NBC Sports • • sports
Key Points:
- Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was fined $23,882 by the NFL for wearing unauthorized Caddix shoes during the Week 7 game, doubling the $11,941 fine he received the previous week for the same issue.
- Williams plans to continue wearing the Caddix shoes, which are not approved by the league, citing their health benefits and comfort that help reduce injury risk.
- The NFL has not yet resolved Williams's appeal of the initial fine, and further fines may be imposed if he continues to wear the unauthorized footwear.
- Although the league could theoretically prevent Williams from playing in non-conforming shoes, no current fine letters warn him of such a suspension.
