Poll: What's Next For Tarik Skubal?

Key Points:

• The Dodgers, two-time defending World Series champions, acquired left-hander Tarik Skubal from the Tigers before the August trade deadline, trading three prospects to bolster their playoff rotation despite Skubal being unsigned beyond this season.
• Skubal contributed significantly to the Dodgers' 100-win season and NL West title, but the team was swept in four games by the small-market Brewers in the NLCS, ending their bid for a third consecutive World Series title.
• Skubal posted strong numbers after joining the Dodgers, with a 2.61 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 10 regular-season starts, and a 2.45 ERA in playoff appearances, but has remained noncommittal about his future with the team.
• The Dodgers face uncertainty in re-signing Skubal due to the impending Dec. 1 lockout and potential salary cap or competitive balance tax penalties, which could limit their ability to offer a lucrative contract despite their large payroll commitments.
• Even if Skubal departs, the Dodgers' rotation remains strong with Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and other promising pitchers, keeping them among the championship favorites heading into the 2027 season.
