The UAE Is Secretly Helping Ansarallah Fight Saudi Arabia in Yemen
Drop Site News • • world
Key Points:
- The United Arab Emirates (UAE), a key U.S. and Israeli ally, has been covertly assisting the Iran-aligned Ansarallah (Houthis) in Yemen by providing targeting intelligence against Saudi-backed forces, according to multiple sources.
- This covert support includes intelligence sharing within Yemen but excludes assistance for attacks inside Saudi Arabia, despite recent deadly Houthi strikes on Saudi territory.
- The UAE’s assistance to Ansarallah reflects shifting interests, as the UAE was sidelined by Saudi Arabia in Yemen earlier this year and now seeks to regain influence, while officially denying any support to the Houthis.
- The conflict in Yemen remains deeply fragmented, with UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces often avoiding direct confrontation with Ansarallah, complicating the Saudi-led coalition’s efforts.
- Humanitarian conditions are worsening, with over 250,000 displaced since August and critical aid access blocked in key areas like Taiz, highlighting the ongoing severe impact of the conflict on civilians.
