Walmart expands drone deliveries across the U.S.
Key Points:
- Walmart is expanding its on-demand drone delivery service to 150 additional stores nationwide through a partnership with Wing, a drone company owned by Alphabet.
- Wing's autonomous drones will operate in 270 locations, covering about 10 percent of the U.S. population, or roughly 40 million people, making it the largest residential drone delivery service.
- The expansion will build on existing infrastructure in Dallas-Fort Worth and Atlanta, with gradual rollouts planned for 2026 and 2027 in major cities including Los Angeles, St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Miami.
- Since June, Walmart has extended drone delivery to five cities and over 100 stores, completing more than 150,000 successful deliveries and becoming the first major retailer
