Yankees Leave Aaron Judge Off ALDS Roster
MLB Trade Rumors • • general
Key Points:
- Aaron Judge will not be on the New York Yankees' roster for the AL Division Series due to a right calf strain, marking his second consecutive playoff series missed.
- Judge was placed on the 10-day injured list in mid-September after exiting a game early, and despite efforts to rehab, his calf is not fully healed to risk activation.
- The Yankees swept the Red Sox in the AL Wild Card Series without Judge, but his absence is expected to hinder their chances against the Tampa Bay Rays and in the pursuit of the World Series.
- Judge has been taking batting practice but has not yet run bases, and the artificial turf at Tropicana Field factored into the decision to keep him off the roster to avoid further injury risk.
- Left-handed pitcher Ryan Weathers will return to the Yankees' roster for the ALDS after recovering from a left flexor strain, replacing Amed Rosario in the only roster change from the Wild Card Series.
