Confident Caleb Lomu ready for starting role after Will Campbell injury

Key Points:

• New England Patriots left tackle Will Campbell suffered a knee sprain during Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders and was unable to return, leading Caleb Lomu to take over the position for the remainder of the game.
• Lomu, the Patriots’ first-round draft pick and primarily a right tackle, played a career-high 49 offensive snaps, mostly at left tackle, demonstrating readiness and confidence in stepping up when needed.
• Head coach Mike Vrabel emphasizes preparing like a starter regardless of playing status, a philosophy Lomu credited for his ability to fill in effectively during Campbell’s absence.
• Team captain Morgan Moses praised Lomu’s confidence, work ethic, and willingness to learn, noting that his presence boosts team morale despite some areas needing improvement.
• With Campbell’s injury status uncertain, Lomu is expected to start in Week 6 against the New York Jets, who recently recorded eight sacks in their last game, posing a significant challenge for the rookie tackle.
