You should check your blood pressure randomly at least twice a day until you see a doctor. Keep a record so the Dr can see the pattern.. eg, what you were doing before your check, time of day etc etc.

I have a wrist cuff and take mine every morning. I'm following my Doctor's advice by doing so. There are a few types of devices. Each one may read differently. Asking your Doctor is best because only they know your history and the medications your taking. Use this time to discuss your diet, salt intake, exercise habits and if you smoke. After your Doctor has a complete history, they can make an appropriate recommendation.

A blood pressure cuff that goes on your upper arm is the best way to check blood pressure. How frequently to check depends on the person. If you're healthy, once a day is OK. If you have a cardiac history then you should follow the direction of your doctor for how often to take your blood pressure.

I'd say check your blood pressure at home at least once a week, or daily if you're managing high blood pressure. Just remember to sit quietly for a few minutes, use an upper arm monitor, and take two readings to get an accurate average!

I was at risk of preeclampsia while pregnant with my son and was instructed by my doctor to check my bp at least twice. One in the morning and one time at night. I used a easy wrist blood pressure monitor and put my relaxed arm over my heart sitting on my couch. Make shure you sit down while takeing your bp and sit for atleast 2 minutes. When youve been up and moving your bp will be higher.
