Beliefs Based on Upbringing

Many of us believe things just because we were raised to believe them. But if our beliefs are strongly tied to how we were raised, how do we know if they are true?

I always told my kids to listen to what you've heard and then go ahead and investigate it and decide what you believe in. You should make your own mind up and not just take someone's word for it 100%.

Yes, I think your upbringing has a big part of who you are. Your parents, grandparents and siblings help mold you. Later in life, you can change your mind and do what you want, but you still have the ties to them.
Hopefully, you have good people around you. Not all people do.
