I did when I was in school. A few years later, I tried my hand at freelancing content writing. Never really went anywhere, although did get 2 books written out of it. One fiction and one nonfiction.

All my writing for grades days are over! I don't miss that - I enjoy writing when the words flow, but not under the deadline or pressure of a class.
